XKs 20th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Despite some rather damp conditions, some 238 XKs turned up for the XK 20th Anniversary breakfast celebration at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire. The event, organsised by Peter Simpson, was a huge success and it was great to see owners from all the clubs sharing the same passion for these significant models of Jaguar’s model heritage. Well done Peter.
XKEC CORNISH "POLDARK" TOUR

Twenty three cars attended our recent Cornish "Poldark" tour very kindly arranged by South West Regional Officer John Balwill and his wife Sue. A great time was had by all. Based in the Penmere Manor Hotel in Falmouth members took in daily visits to Lizard Point, Geevor Mine, Poldark Mine, St Just, St Agnes, Cadgwith and Charlestown as well as enjoying joyious evening meals and entertainment. The cars certainly brought about much attraction through the narrow lanes and quaint villages. Thank you John and Sue for a great time in glorious sunny Cornwall. XKEC MEMBER WINS AWARD AT CONCOURS OF ELEGANCE EVENT

XKEC Member Phil Dyson was proudly awarded the "Classics of the Future" class with his pristine 2003 XKR.
Eight judges made up the Jaguar Trophy panel, led by John Edwards (Managing Director, JLR Special Operations), Tim Hannig (Director, JLR Classic), Vice Admiral Tony Johnstone-Burt (Master of the Royal Household), David Lillywhite (Editor, Octane magazine), Paul Walton, (Editor, Jaguar World), Karen Marshall (MD, Bridge of Weir Leather Company), Tim Scott (Petrolicious.com classic car aficionado and photographer) and Jaguar’s in-house classic car expert, Tony O’Keeffe. CONCOURS OF ELEGANCE (WINDSOR)

XKEC members attended the Concours of Elegance show at Windsor Castle. A Concours of 60 of the world's rarest cars were on display in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
celebrations.
Members displayed their XKs alongside other car clubs on the Long Walk up to the Castle.
WHITSTABLE CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW

A good turn out on our club stand at the Whitstable Classic Motor show. The event took place on top of the well known Tankerton Slopes in Kent and had some 700 cars attending. Included in the show was some very interesting static displays, music, entertainment and more. A great annual event.
125 CARS AT SUMMER, SHOW & SHINE

The XKEC and its sister club the F-TypeEC held its annual Summer, Show & Shine event at Arundel Castle in West Sussex on Saturday 13th August 2016.
125 cars were on display throughout the day on the Lower Castle lawns amongst an outstanding backdrop of the castle itself. The event once again helped celebrate the XK8's 20th Anniversary. Thanks to everyone who attended.
SILVERSTONE CLASSIC
29th -31st JULY 2016
Over the weekend of 29th-31st July the XKEC attended the 2016 Silverstone Classic Event in Northampton. With 70 cars on display on the Saturday on our club stand everyone had a great day out. Members were also treated to a special XK 20th Anniversary parade lap around the circuit on the Saturday evening which went down very well indeed. Thanks to everyone who joined us and who may have come over and said hello.
YORKSHIRE MEET
30th JULY 2016
New Yorkshire Regional Officer Charles Henderson arranged the clubs inaugural Yorkshire meet at The Market Place in Masham in North Yorks. This was just an initial meeting to get things moving in the local and surrounding areas and not a bad start at all. Well done Charles.
BASTON CAR & BIKE SHOW

Lincolnshire Regional Officer Barry Wood arranged a gathering of members at this very popular show. The show had an eclectic mix of old and new including a selection of main dealers where you could compare all the latest models. It was also great fun for the family too, as they had plenty of refreshments, live music, fairground rides and lots of other attractions. Well done Barry and all those who attended.
GWSR DISPLAY

Members were invited by the Friends of Prescott Hill Climb to display our cars at the Gloucester & Warwickshire Steam Railway. The event took place at Toddington Station, a lovely period station in the backdrop of the Cotswold hills. Members also enjoyed a steam train journey from Toddington to Cheltenham racecourse along one of the finest steam railway journeys in the country.
ALSACE TOUR (FRANCE)
7th-14th JUNE 2016
Twenty five members cars went on tour to the Alsace Region of France. During the tour they visited Koenigsborough & Hohlandsborough castles, enjoyed a steam train ride down and a boat back up the Rhine, a visit to the Maginot Line Museum, a vineyard and a visit to the largest car museum in the world.
BROMLEY PAGEANT

Members once again enjoyed our annual trip to the Bromley Pageant of Motoring event at Norman Park in Bromley, Kent. We enjoyed lovely weather amongst a huge array of cars and car clubs, along with picnics and endless teas on tap. Thank you to everyone who attended. A great day out.
150 CARS ATTEND GROWLER XIII

With record numbers at both Friday (63 people) and Saturday night dinners (118 people) and 150 cars in attendance at Stanford Hall on Saturday, followed by a 50 car convoy on Sunday to Lamport Hall, this event just gets better and better. Many thanks to all those who attended and to Sturgess Jaguar of Leicester for acting our event sponsors and for also putting on such a superb display of cars at the main Saturday event. PERTHSHIRE TOUR (SCOTLAND)

XKEC Members attended a club tour of Perthshire. The itinerary included a variety of scenic tours and cultural visits including a display at a quintessential Highland Castle. There were also some fantastic sights to see in the local area including Dunkeld village, the nearby Hermitage and Falls of Braan. Members also spent time in the elegant Victorian town of Pitlochry and made a visit to The House of Bruar.
CONCORDE GALA DINNER

Over 70 members attended our special Concorde Gala Dinner under Concorde at the Fleet Air Arm Museum on 23rd April. Members from across the country enjoyed a three course dinner surrounded by many of the unique aircrafts on display as well as having a presentation by an ex Concorde Pilot.
VISIT TO ROYAL NAVY HISTORIC FLIGHT YEOVILTON

Members of the XKEC were invited by the Royal Navy Historic Flight to visit them at their new hangar at the RNAB Yeovilton on the morning of Tuesday 19th April. Members were escorted to the Heritage Flight hangar where they met the pilots and engineers and given a tour of the hangar to see all the planes which will be prepared for their summer display season. Members then had the opportunity to have their XKs photographed alongside one of the aircraft on the tarmac.
JAGUAR "BREAKFEST"

Around 150 Jaguars attended the first ever Jaguar "Breakfest" meet at Gaydon on 2nd April. Arranged by member and Regional Officer Peter Simpson the ‘Breakfest’ is a new monthly breakfast meet open to all Jaguar owners and enthusiasts regardless of affiliation to a club, forum or group. Peter intends to hold the meet on the first Saturday of each month at the prestigious location of the British Motor Museum, Gaydon, Warwickshire, home to the impressive new Collections Centre displaying the Jaguar Heritage Trust’s iconic collection of vehicles. Well done Peter.
18th JAN 2016: VISIT TO STUDIO 434
Member Richard Green very kindly arranged a visit for some members to the superb Studio 434 car collection in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. Taking in lunch first at The Old Barn just down the road, members were then treated to a great tour by host Owen. Fantastic day out.
9th JAN 2016: WHO CARES ABOUT THE WEATHER ? AV8 BREAKFAST MEET
Saturday 9th January 2016 saw a record attendance at one of our breakfast meets with 22 cars present. Members all rolled up at the AV8 cafe in Cirencester and despite the weather what a great attendance.
2nd JAN 2016: SOUTH EAST BREAKFAST MEET
Saturday 2nd January saw our first 2016 breakfast meet of the new year which took place at "The Toby Carvery" in Badgers Mount, Kent. A great turn for the first of the year in what was very wet conditions. Thanks to everyone who came along and made a great start to our year.
