SCOTTISH BREAKFAST MEET

30th OCTOBER 2016

A few members got together for the last Scottish Breakfast meet of the year at the Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell. 

LINCOLNSHIRE BREAKFAST MEET

15th OCTOBER 2016

 

Regional Officer Barry Wood also arranged a club breakfast meet at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in Spilsby on Saturday 15th October. This monthly meet takes places every third Saturday of each month during October, November and December.

XKs 20th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

1st OCTOBER 2016

 

Despite some rather damp conditions, some 238 XKs turned up for the XK 20th Anniversary breakfast celebration at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire. The event, organsised by Peter Simpson, was a huge success and it was great to see owners from all the clubs sharing the same passion for these significant models of Jaguar’s model heritage. Well done Peter.

EAST MIDLANDS BREAKFAST MEET

A great turn out of 15 cars at our East Midlands Breakfast meet at Donington. This is always a popular event so why not come along.

XKEC CORNISH "POLDARK" TOUR

16th-19th SEPT 2016

 

Twenty three cars attended our recent Cornish "Poldark" tour very kindly arranged by South West Regional Officer John Balwill and his wife Sue. A great time was had by all. Based in the Penmere Manor Hotel in Falmouth members took in daily visits to Lizard Point, Geevor Mine, Poldark Mine, St Just, St Agnes, Cadgwith and Charlestown as well as enjoying joyious evening meals and entertainment. The cars certainly brought about much attraction through the narrow lanes and quaint villages. Thank you John and Sue for a great time in glorious sunny Cornwall. BORDE HILL GARDENS

Members visited Borde Hill Gardens in Sussex and displayed their XKs on the South Lawns, enjoying a walk around the gardens and a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon picnic. 

XKEC MEMBER WINS AWARD AT CONCOURS OF ELEGANCE EVENT

3rd SEPT 2016

 

XKEC Member Phil Dyson was proudly awarded the "Classics of the Future" class with his pristine 2003 XKR. 

Eight judges made up the Jaguar Trophy panel, led by John Edwards (Managing Director, JLR Special Operations), Tim Hannig (Director, JLR Classic), Vice Admiral Tony Johnstone-Burt (Master of the Royal Household), David Lillywhite (Editor, Octane magazine), Paul Walton, (Editor, Jaguar World), Karen Marshall (MD, Bridge of Weir Leather Company), Tim Scott (Petrolicious.com classic car aficionado and photographer) and Jaguar’s in-house classic car expert, Tony O’Keeffe. Well done Phil.

CONCOURS OF ELEGANCE (WINDSOR)

3rd SEPT 2016

 

XKEC members attended the Concours of Elegance show at Windsor Castle. A Concours of 60 of the world's rarest cars were on display in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. 
Members displayed their XKs alongside other car clubs on the Long Walk up to the Castle. 

GAYDON BREAKFAST MEET

XKEC Regional Officer Peter Simpson brought together an array of Jaguars to enjoy this very popular monthly breakfast meet amongst the local surroundings and museum.

WHITSTABLE CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW

21st AUGUST 2016

 

A good turn out on our club stand at the Whitstable Classic Motor show. The event took place on top of the well known Tankerton Slopes in Kent and had some 700 cars attending. Included in the show was some very interesting static displays, music, entertainment and more. A great annual event.

 

 

 

BLACK MOUNTAIN TOUR II 21st AUGUST 2016

 

A great turn out again at our second Black Mountain Run, followed by lunch at Tintern Abbey.

 

 

 

SOUTH WEST BREAKFAST MEET - 21st AUGUST 2016

 

Members gathered together once again for the popular SW Breakfast meet at The Arundell Arms in Lifton, Devon. Well done to all those who attended.

Regional Officer Ian Pemberton gathered together some members for his regular monthly meet at the George IV at Baldock.

125 CARS AT SUMMER, SHOW & SHINE

13th AUGUST 2016

 

The XKEC and its sister club the F-TypeEC held its annual Summer, Show & Shine event at Arundel Castle in West Sussex on Saturday 13th August 2016.

125 cars were on display throughout the day on the Lower Castle lawns amongst an outstanding backdrop of the castle itself. The event once again helped celebrate the XK8's 20th Anniversary. Thanks to everyone who attended.

 

 

 

HELMINGHAM FESTIVAL

22 Cars displayed on our club stand at this very popular annual event in Suffolk. Many thanks to all those who attended on a lovely sunny but windy day.

Scottish Regional Officer Ter Ironside brought together members for a breakfast meet at The Three Bridges hotel in Edinburgh. With amazing views of the bridges and a great display of XKs, well done Ter.

SILVERSTONE CLASSIC

29th -31st JULY 2016

 

Over the weekend of 29th-31st July the XKEC attended the 2016 Silverstone Classic Event in Northampton. With 70 cars on display on the Saturday on our club stand everyone had a great day out. Members were also treated to a special XK 20th Anniversary parade lap around the circuit on the Saturday evening which went down very well indeed. Thanks to everyone who joined us and who may have come over and said hello. 

 

YORKSHIRE MEET

30th JULY 2016

 

New Yorkshire Regional Officer Charles Henderson arranged the clubs inaugural Yorkshire meet at The Market Place in Masham in North Yorks. This was just an initial meeting to get things moving in the local and surrounding areas and not a bad start at all. Well done Charles.

BASTON CAR & BIKE SHOW

Lincolnshire Regional Officer Barry Wood arranged a gathering of members at this very popular show. The show had an eclectic mix of old and new including a selection of main dealers where you could compare all the latest models. It was also great fun for the family too, as they had plenty of refreshments, live music, fairground rides and lots of other attractions. Well done Barry and all those who attended.

 

NURBURGRING

Member Martin Thomas arranged a petrol heads dream trip to the Nurburgring on 1st July 2016. 

HONFLEUR TO ROUEN ROAD TRIP II

Member Cyrille Pillett gathered together 13 XKs for a sunny day out in Normandy with Jaguar France greeting them on arrival with their latest models.

DEFFORD AIR DAY

Member Alan Jan-Janin invited some members along to this popular event.There were a few showers, and one torrential downpour, but overall it was a most enjoyable day out to see and hear some lovely cars and aircraft.

 

 

JAGUAR SUPER SATURDAY

XKEC Member Malcolm Humphries once again had a great turn out at this annual event in Coventry which portrayed Jaguars expanding over many years.

SCOTTISH MEET

20th JUNE 2016

 

XKEC Member Ter Ironside gathered together some local members for a Scottish meet at FRC Education centre situated just off the Forth Road bridge in Edinburgh. Well done Ter.

GWSR DISPLAY

12th JUNE 2016

 

Members were invited by the Friends of Prescott Hill Climb to display our cars at the Gloucester & Warwickshire Steam Railway. The event took place at Toddington Station, a lovely period station in the backdrop of the Cotswold hills. Members also enjoyed a steam train journey from Toddington to Cheltenham racecourse along one of the finest steam railway journeys in the country.

ALSACE TOUR (FRANCE)

7th-14th JUNE 2016

 

Twenty five members cars went on tour to the Alsace Region of France. During the tour they visited Koenigsborough & Hohlandsborough castles, enjoyed a steam train ride down and a boat back up the Rhine, a visit to the Maginot Line Museum, a vineyard and a visit to the largest car museum in the world.

AV8 BREAKFAST MEET

The AV8 Cafe in Cirencester was once again the meeting point for breakfast on 11th June. A great turn out once again. 

BROMLEY PAGEANT

5th JUNE 2016

 

Members once again enjoyed our annual trip to the Bromley Pageant of Motoring event at Norman Park in Bromley, Kent. We enjoyed lovely weather amongst a huge array of cars and car clubs, along with picnics and endless teas on tap. Thank you to everyone who attended. A great day out.

DEAL CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW

Members joined us in an XKEC display at Deal on Sunday 29th May 2016 at the idyllic setting of Walmer Green, which overlooks the sea in Deal, Kent. The show had some 700 cars in attendance as well as static displays, entertainment and music. 

 

KELHAM HALL & COUNTRY PARK

Lincolnshire Regional Officer Barry Wood got together a few members for a picnic day at Kelham Hall & Country Park in Nottinghamshire. Well done Barry. 

 

EAST MIDLANDS BREAKFAST MEET

East Midlands Breakfast meet took place on 28th May at Donington. It was a bit chaotic due to the popular Super Bike event but still 12 XK’s and 2 White F Type convertibles attended which was very much appreciated.

 

150 CARS ATTEND GROWLER XIII

20th-22nd MAY 2016

 

With record numbers at both Friday (63 people) and Saturday night dinners (118 people) and 150 cars in attendance at Stanford Hall on Saturday, followed by a 50 car convoy on Sunday to Lamport Hall, this event just gets better and better. Many thanks to all those who attended and to Sturgess Jaguar of Leicester for acting our event sponsors and for also putting on such a superb display of cars at the main Saturday event. South Central Regional Officers Kevin and Soraya displayed 19 cars on the XKEC stand at this Jaguar related show within the beautiful grounds of the Beaulieu Motor Museum in Hampshire.

PERTHSHIRE TOUR (SCOTLAND)

2nd-6th MAY 2016

 

XKEC Members attended a club tour of Perthshire. The itinerary included a variety of scenic tours and cultural visits including a display at a quintessential Highland Castle. There were also some fantastic sights to see in the local area including Dunkeld village, the nearby Hermitage and Falls of Braan. Members also spent time in the elegant Victorian town of Pitlochry and made a visit to The House of Bruar.

CONCORDE GALA DINNER

Over 70 members attended our special Concorde Gala Dinner under Concorde at the Fleet Air Arm Museum on 23rd April. Members from across the country enjoyed a three course dinner surrounded by many of the unique aircrafts on display as well as having a presentation by an ex Concorde Pilot.

VISIT TO ROYAL NAVY HISTORIC FLIGHT YEOVILTON

19th APRIL 2016

 

Members of the XKEC were invited by the Royal Navy Historic Flight to visit them at their new hangar at the RNAB Yeovilton on the morning of Tuesday 19th April. Members were escorted to the Heritage Flight hangar where they met the pilots and engineers and given a tour of the hangar to see all the planes which will be prepared for their summer display season. Members then had the opportunity to have their XKs photographed alongside one of the aircraft on the tarmac.

BLACK MOUNTAINS DRIVE

Member Robert Sparey gathered together 22 XKs for a drive tour through the black mountains ending up at Chepstow Tintern Abbey for lunch.

TOP CAT's V8UK POWER LAUNCH MEET

Some XKEC members attended the 4th Annual V8UK Power Launch event at the TopCat Racing Workshop in Westcott (near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire) on Sunday 3rd April. Open to all V8 Cars this is a very popular event.

Beautiful sunshine brought out great numbers at the usual monthly South East Breakfast meet on 2nd April. A total of 16 Cars turned up allowing a great start to our Spring calendar.

JAGUAR "BREAKFEST"

2nd APRIL 2016

 

Around 150 Jaguars attended the first ever Jaguar "Breakfest" meet at Gaydon on 2nd April. Arranged by member and Regional Officer Peter Simpson the ‘Breakfest’ is a new monthly breakfast meet open to all Jaguar owners and enthusiasts regardless of affiliation to a club, forum or group. Peter intends to hold the meet on the first Saturday of each month at the prestigious location of the British Motor Museum, Gaydon, Warwickshire, home to the impressive new Collections Centre displaying the Jaguar Heritage Trust’s iconic collection of vehicles. Well done Peter.

The latest gathering of South West members took place on Saturday 19th March at The Arundell Arms in Lifton. The next meet date is still to be confirmed as the May one clashes with the clubs national GROWLER XIII event.

Member Richard Green very kindly arranged a visit for some members to the superb Studio 434 car collection in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. Taking in lunch first at The Old Barn just down the road, members were then treated to a great tour by host Owen. Fantastic day out.

A gathering of SW members occurred once again at the Arundel Arms in Lifton, Devon. Good turnout once again. 

 

9th JAN 2016: WHO CARES ABOUT THE WEATHER ? AV8 BREAKFAST MEET

 

Saturday 9th January 2016 saw a record attendance at one of our breakfast meets with 22 cars present. Members all rolled up at the AV8 cafe in Cirencester and despite the weather what a great attendance. 

2nd JAN 2016: SOUTH EAST BREAKFAST MEET

 

Saturday 2nd January saw our first 2016 breakfast meet of the new year which took place at "The Toby Carvery" in Badgers Mount, Kent. A great turn for the first of the year in what was very wet conditions. Thanks to everyone who came along and made a great start to our year.
